In the MAKER’s kit nothing comes pre-assembled. You get all the learning there is while you build your JellyBOX “from scratch”.
Wires are cut to length, crimped & labeled (skip the soldering & crimping and go straight to 3D goodness). Control unit is pre-loaded with the proper version of firmware (Marlin) to be ready-to-print after the build.
Best for enthusiastic makers with a technical background.
DUAL FILAMENT FANS
Dual filament fans were an option in the JellyBOX 1, now they are included with the JellyBOX 2.
Dual filament fans are awesome for PLA and any filament that likes to be cool. You get exactly twice as much cooling power, which is great for general surface quality, bridges, fast printing, and printing with big nozzles.
Also great for printing complex models in which parts may be shielded from the cool air if only one fan is in place.
The JellyBOX 2 features a specially constructed clear acrylic door with a double hinge.
This allows printing with the door open for easy access; closed for safety from little hands & to help insulate big prints on a heated bed. Opened or closed… always retaining the acrylic see-through goodness of the JellyBOX.
OPTION: HEATED BED UPGRADE
Recommended for intermediate/advanced print masters or anyone who likes to experiment (if you are reading this, you are probably one or both of the above!).
JellyBOX 2 heated bed has new construction that makes this upgrade easier.
The heated bed option contains a build plate is coated with the PEI surface, the best option for the PETG and Flexible filament prints.
The power supply for the heated bed is bigger (12V/10A).
Save money by ordering a heated bed with your JellyBOX 2 purchase. It is more cost effective than buying it later as an upgrade!
The heated bed allows you to heat up the build platform to up to 80°C.
It's great to reduce warping issues with any filament or when printing in very cold rooms. 80°C is enough to comfortably print PETG (you can print PETG without the heated bed, but it's a bit more difficult) and all commonly available 'special' blends. It also helps with PLA, but is not crucial.
This 'warm bed' is NOT hot enough to comfortably print ABS or polycarbonate. To print poly, you'd need to upgrade the hotend and add thermocouple anyway. That being said, we do not officially support ABS. The fumes are harmful. Just don't do it. Print PETG instead - it's also easier to print and often has better physical properties.
